This was a request from ~TonberryOwnage13. She asked for a Cid x Lightning piece involving Lightning in Nova Chrysalia having a flashback to a memory with Cid and pretty much left it up to me how it would work out. I think I managed to fit everything together okay, and I'm fairly pleased with how it turned out. I think I managed to nail her characterization pre-XIII okay, as well as how it turned out by the end of the trilogy. Poor Cid. Lightning's just a black widow and a heartbreaker, I guess. The next time they meet in person, he dies. Oh well. But hey, a kiss and fireworks! Oh, come on, admit it, your heart melted a little when Lightning got all softhearted with her old flame. There's nothing like someone you used to love coming back and making you miserable, prior relationship or not.

Apparently, a cat-based sidequest will award the player with the Mi'quote outfit, so I had to throw that bit in there. I also prefer the original Japanese term "Liberator" for many reasons I'll not go into detail about here, so I used it instead of the English version. And yes, apparently Yusnaan is where Valhalla once was, according to the wiki. The flashback takes place one year before the festival on the thirteenth day in Final Fantasy XIII.

I'll probably not write this pairing again. These two had no interaction in canon apart from her calling him a traitor and him completely ignoring her except to toss her gunblade back to her, which I could still work with, but I prefer a little more interaction than that. It's highly unlikely they knew each other in the past due to being in different branches. It's also very hard to write for a pairing I'm not passionate about, too, so... yeah. I apologize, Cid x Light lovers. This is not a personal attack, so don't take it like that! Really! I'm not one of "those" shippers! *sees Cid x Light shippers coming after her with torches and pitchforks* ...uh-oh. Gotta go see ya BYE!
